When it came to Stuart, he was just supposed to be Derek’s anchor and that was the end of it. His feelings were for someone else and it made it a million times more complicated when it was Stuart’s twin. Stiles was something else and they had a lot of moments together in the past, especially before the darkness took control. The town was starting to influence all of them but it was always going to be worse for those who had supernatural blood because there was more there to weasel into. Somewhere along the line, though, Derek’s feelings began to shift towards Stuart. He was more than just someone who could make him feel more controlled and back in balance. Derek was now starting to reach for him when he didn’t necessarily need him for the whole anchor thing. He was starting to need him just because. It was the just because that was scary because Stuart wasn’t going to want him. Not in the way Derek would want him to. He was needed for things but that was the extent of it. No one wanted Derek just for the sake of who he was.
“If you let me — I could help you on the vehicle front,” Derek murmured, already knowing Stuart was going to scoff over it like he always did. “You could always pay me back. It’s more for me than for you. I could have you here already.” Putting it on him was another tactic that was probably going to fail but still. “You still have your key, right?” Derek asked, not wanting to get up to go and answer the door. Stuart was the only one who actually had a key, while the others just found a way inside. Unruly brats and Peter.
The words caused a little breath hitch. “I want you with me.” The words held a lot more meaning than he wanted to admit to.
The moment that Derek had mentioned helping with getting him a vehicle, Stuart shook his head to himself, having closed his eyes and swerve from running into the curb when he opened them back up. He stabilized himself and looked ahead, listening to the other talking about always paying him back and how it was more for him than anything else. Call it selfish or selfless on Derek’s part, Stuart wasn’t sure, but he wanted to get what he needed on his own. He didn’t want as much help as the other was offering to him. Stuart was’t sure if he could truly accept it anyway.
Deciding not to really debate on helping with the car or anything with a motor discussion, Stuart smiled and muttered a soft ‘yes’ to if he had the key he was given. He kept the key on his person at all times, never wanting to let it out of his sight in case he were to lose it. Derek may have just given it to him so he wouldn’t have to bother with getting up and going to the door whenever he came when the wolf called, but he liked to hope that there was maybe more to it. That would never be said to anyone, though. Kept to himself at all times.
Pulling up besides Derek’s car, he heard the other mutter those last, few words, Stuart could feel the tips of his ears burn slightly before dismounting off of his bike. It made his heart skip a beat, a smile tugging to his lips before he went up to the loft. "I’m right here.“ He pressed the side of the bluetooth and disconnected the call when he got to the door, using the key to let himself in and walking in to the living room area before calling out.
